New Client info.
The Basics
Appointments are pre-arranged through the Schedule Appointment button on this website. You can select a service and look at a calendar to create a time that suits you. You can also prepay for your service if you like. This creates a nice situation for clients since all the business portion can be done ahead of time. Just massage and YOU time. New, or first time clients to the studio, may choose to book under new clients section in the scheduler and receive 50% off regular prices.
That's first visit price. Subsequent bookings will charge at regular cost.
First Appointment
Please come to your first appointment 10 minutes early to greet, meet and fill out a medical history chart. This helps me to know about your past or current injuries and illness. I do not currently bill to insurance companies.
The table I use has a weight capacity rating of 500 lbs. That means it can hold up to 500 total static pounds without breaking or malfunctioning. Due to various types of massage or manuevers that may require me to apply some of my own body weight during a session, I feel that it's important to know the weight of some of my clients.
If you know you are around 350 lbs. or more it's important to please leave me a message before your appointment and we can talk about the different options we have to work together before you come in. We do have good options:) I have worked with people up to 500 lbs.
Is this your first ever professional massage?
Some people have questions or concerns about their first time working with an L.M.T.
Do I have to remove ALL clothing?
You may keep all of your clothing on, if that is your preference. You may undress or not, it's up to you.
You will be covered with a sheet and a blanket. I leave the room and shut the doors before the client gets on the table. The client covers
themselves with the sheet before I come back into the room. Maintaining your modesty is a priority for me.
What areas of my body will be massaged?
Usually a full body massage means to work on the neck, shoulders, arms, hands, back, low back, hips, legs and feet. The head and face may also
be included. Sometimes clients don't want a certain area touched or want more of their time to be used in a specific area. Communicated preferences
are followed during the massage.
What is a massage like? What happens?
Swedish and deep tissue massage sessions start with what's called effleurage. This is broad sweeping motions across the skin using the
therapists hands. It warms up the muscles and gets client acquainted with the pressure of the therapists hands. An oil or cream may be used on the skin
to reduce friction and hydrate the skin.
At any time the client can request that less or more pressure be used.
L.M.T.'s check in to make sure that the pressure they are using is comfortable to the client.
A therapist may ask a client to move their body during a massage session. The therapist makes sure the client can do so safely and can remained covered
with the sheet appropriately. A therapist may ask or tell a client that they are going to pick up the clients arm for them or reposition a leg, etc.
Many times clients will fall asleep or doze lightly during their massage session. This is fine to do.
